The brown/black sculptures are crafted from Red Earthenware Clay, which gives them a solid appearance, but nonetheless has the delicate tendancies of living underwater plants.
One of the qualities of Red Earthenware is its wonderful colour. To ensure this quality was not forfeited through glazing the artist has decorated these works by simply applying a dark oxide sparingly and a clear glaze. This enhances the original colour of the material. Thses works were heated to approximately 1000 C in the kiln.
